Lemon Ginger Turmeric Detox Tonic

After a heavy meal or just to start your day off right, our lemon ginger turmeric detox tonic can help flush toxins from your body. Lemon and ginger are powerful detoxifiers that aid digestion and cleanse the kidneys and liver. While turmeric, a yellowish root commonly used in Eastern dishes, is notorious for its anti-inflammatory properties. Combined, these ingredients can jumpstart your day, leaving you feeling naturally energized and awake.

Ingredients

1 quart of water

1/2 pound ginger root

2 lemons

1 tbsp ground turmeric

Dash of cayenne pepper

Preparation

1) Cut ginger into 1/2″ slices and put in saucepan full of water

2) Bring water to boil

3) Once water is boiling, squeeze juice of the 2 lemons in and drop into the saucepan

4) Reduce water to simmer for 15 minutes

5) Let sit for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally

6) Stir in turmeric and cayenne

Enjoy this beverage hot or cold. We prefer it served warm, first thing in the morning!
