Food of the Week: Spinach


Spinach is an amazing dark leafy green vegetable known for its wholesome nutritional, antioxidants and anti-cancer composition. Its tender, crispy, dark-green leaves are one of the most nutrient dense on the planet! Spinach contains several vital anti-oxidant vitamins like vitamin A, vitamin C, and flavonoid poly-phenolic antioxidants such as lutein and beta-carotene. Vitamin A helps with maintaining healthy mucus membranes and skin, and is essential for healthy eyesight. Spinach also contains many minerals like potassium, manganese, magnesium, copper and zinc. Potassium is an important component of cell and body fluids that helps control heart rate and blood pressure. And, as if that isn’t enough, Spinach also contains an incredible amount of omega-3 fatty acids. Regular consumption of spinach can help your body in many ways!

Garlic Sauteed Spinach Recipe


What You’ll Need

1 tbsp extra virgin olive oil

1 bag (or around 10 ounces) of Spinach

1 1/2 tsp of garlic salt

1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese


1) Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

2) Add the spinach to the skillet and cover; allow to cook 5 minutes.

3) Stir in the garlic salt and cover again for another 5 minutes; remove from heat.

4) Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese to serve!
